Favorite Part About Being a Doctor
“Being a part of my patients’ lives and their journey to better health.”
“I went into family practice so I could treat my patients like family,” Dr. Mark Petrizzi says. “And I never rush family.”
For more than 20 years, Dr. Petrizzi has been a trusted family medicine doctor in Richmond, VA, who focuses on providing holistic, preventive care to patients ages six and up. He combines integrative medicine and whole-person wellness to help patients improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
And the key to that, he says, is getting to know the patient on a personal level. “I meet my patients where they want to begin, and we talk about whatever they’re comfortable with,” he says.
“For some, the spiritual element is important. For others, less so. Either way is perfectly OK. That’s the point of personalized medicine: together, the physician and patient create a plan that’s right for that particular individual.”
Dr. Petrizzi received his bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University and his medical degree from State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1989. In addition to his practice with PartnerMD, Dr. Petrizzi serves as an assistant clinical professor of family medicine at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
“I really enjoy helping people take a proactive approach to their well-being,” Dr. Petrizzi says. “For some, that might involve a traditional approach. For others, it might require an alternative approach focused on diets, exercise, and other therapies, such as acupuncture, that might offer better long-term solutions.”
并找出最佳路径,需要转换sation. “When I first meet a new patient, I want to learn where they are at that moment physically, mentally, and spiritually,” he says. “I want that first discussion to feel like a conversation between new friends, so I can best guide them forward.”
Dr. Petrizzi lives in Mechanicsville, Va., with his wife and six children. His many hobbies include enjoying spending time with his family (including cooking for them and vacationing in the Outer Banks), walking, reading, cycling, working with computers, and carpentry. His favorite book is Summa Theologica, and he enjoys listening to classical music and Gregorian Chants.
